Hi everyone,
I have reached a brick wall and I am wondering if someone could help me, please?
James Robinson Richardson was born in 1876 in Nottingham, and his father was Francis Richardson, a hosiery counterman, according to James's marriage certificate. James married Lizzie Gadd in Leicester in 1898, but I have been unable to find him in any census until 1901, so I don't know when he left Nottingham for Leicester.
I'd be very grateful if someone could find him in the 1881 and/or 1891 censuses, and his baptism too, if possible, so I can trace the rest of the family.
Many thanks,
Donna.

The only marriage in the time frame to a spouse with surname Taylor is this one from FreeBMD:
Richardson, Francis James to Taylor, Ellen; Sept Qtr 1865; Leicester Reg Dist; Volume 7a Page 253.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
David

Odd, but I just don't see him (James) on any census with his parents.
Sure looks like the correct family, though:
RICHARDSON, FRANCIS JAMES mmnROBINSON
born 1844 J Quarter in NOTTINGHAM Volume 15 Page 574

Spoke too soon. He's possibly on the 1891 with his TAYLOR grandparents (James and Elizabeth) in St Margaret, Leicestershire.

Thank you so much Keyboard86, David and Maureen - all the info you've given me is a great help and I'm sure it's the right family.
I think I've now found Francis in the 1891 census as a widower, too. The age, occupation and birthplace all fit.
Best regards,
Donna.

He's at 33 Syston St with his TAYLOR grandparents in 1881 as well.

Thank you very much indeed David, for all those marriage details - they will enable me to go even further back than I was hoping to go!
Maureen, I've found James in 1891 living with his Taylor grandparents as you said, but I can't find them in 1881 (so I don't think you're going blind!) :)
Donna
P.S. I've now realised that James Richardson is shown as James Taylor in 1881, so that's why I couldn't find him!

Thanks Maureen - I've just altered my post above, as I've found them now. James Richardson is shown as James Taylor, so that's why I was confused! :)
