I'm trying to find any information on the early life of Tom Arnall.
The facts that I know are that Tom marries Elizabeth Ann Stokes in 1882 at West Ham this is the first time I come across Tom.
In the 1891 census p/n 1322 f 42 p 81 the family are living in West Ham,Tom is a Lighterman, age 32, and states that he was born in Bermonsey, living with Tom and Elizabeth are three of their children and two of Elizabeth's brothers.
In the 1901 census p/n 1584 f 51 p 39 Tom and Elizabeth are still living in West Ham with 5 children and Elizabeth's brother Joseph and his wife Ellen. Tom is age 43 and again states that he was born in Bermonsey.
In the 1911 census the family are still living at the same address as in 1901 with 4 children and a niece Tom is age 53 and states he was born in West Ham.
In the 1939 register Tom and Elizabeth are still living at 11 Peter st. Tom states that he was born on the 1/8/1858 he is a Lighterman retired living with Tom and Elizabeth is their son William.
I have been unable to find a birth for Tom.
Tom dies on the 2/12/1942 in Romford.
In the 1881 census p/n 580 f 12 p17 there is a William Arnell age 33 also a Lighterman born in Bermonsey living in Rotherhithe.
Would anyone be able to give me any information on Tom prior to the marriage in1882

I now think that the marriage between William Arnall and Harriet Richards in 1853 was William's second having been married to Clara Sarah Mold in 1842. Clara died in 1853.
In the 1861 census 1059 9 31 William and Harriet are living with William's first two children from his marriage to Clara, Clara and William and also three children from his marriage to Harriet Eliza,Henry and John.
I now think that the Tom I'm researching is Henry Thomas and at some time he drops the Henry.
I would appreciat any views on this.
