My GM's birth certificate says she was born in Arnold Street, Blackpool 1905
I know of Arnold Avenue ( I even went to school there ! ) , but not Arnold Street
Did Arnold Street exist ?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
A shorter Arnold Ave marked on a 1912 OS map as Arnold Rd. On an 1894 OS map, the road is marked running from Arnold House to Springfield but not named. I've no local knowledge of Blackpool.
For the maps go to https://maps.nls.uk/os/6inch-england-and-wales/index.html

You can see Arnold Street on the map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/332424/437394/12/100674 if you continue zooming out you will get the modern street map. The name was changed to Croydon Road https://goo.gl/maps/EP5hKKquFEQ2

Interesting. Arnold street and Arnold Ave at opposite ends of the town

For a moment it was all rather spooky.
I went to school at Arnold school in Arnold Avenue. It would have been bizarre if my grandmother had been born there within 100m without my prior knowledge !
Arnold Street is several miles north of there.. Not that I suppose any of it really makes any difference
given the perspective of a century ..

In 1911 there were only four houses in Arnold Street, as shown on the 1912 map, Skinner 1 Arnold Street, Boardman 3 Arnold Street, Krellet 5 Arnold Street, Johnson 7 Arnold Street. These will be the four houses from Google Street View, https://goo.gl/maps/BdWcGxaHsa52
