Title: Annie Emiline Blackwell (1893-1922)
Post by: Fliss on Wednesday 14 February 18 09:04 GMT (UK)
Annie Emiline Blackwell died on 29 March 1922 at Morfa, George Street, Llandilo (Llandilofawr), Camarthenshire. She was only 29 years old and was originally from Rodbourne Cheney, Wiltshire. I believe she had studied at university and settled in Llandilo afterwards. Who lived at Morfa, George Street in March 1922? Where / for whom did Annie work? What was her cause of death? Any information will be much appreciated.

Not sure which thread to answer on.

I had a quick newspaper check for obits but nothing so far. I think the only way to find out anything is to get a death cert.

If she was b. Wiltshire and ended up in Carmarthenshire, the most likely Universities (apart from O & C) might well be Bristol, Cardiff or Swansea and, possibly, Aberystwyth .  The Welsh ones would be univerity colleges then as part of the University of Wales. It might be worth checking their sites to see if they have a list of alumni.

It would appear from the attached free transcript for 1911 that she was still living at home but employed as a laboratory assistant at Swindon Technical school

So in 1911, she would have been circa 18.  If she went to university, it would have been after that.

Just thinking that Reading University would also come into play.

Added - would it be best to get a Mod to combine threads?

There is a newspaper article Liverpool Daily Post 05 July 1915, University Of Wales, Degree Examinations. Under the heading Botany, Faculty of Science Final - Annie E Blackwell.

This could be the Annie you are researching.
