Following the recent disruption in the resources offered by ROOTSWEB, I have moved my Calderdale Companion website to another host.
This is accessible at
calderdalecompanion.co.uk
as before, but anyone using a URL involving ROOTSWEB will have to change the URL accordingly. The pages (that's the xxx.html part of the address, are unchanged.

I'm new to Roots so not sure if I'm replying correctly!
I see you had a post about John Crossley (1771 - 1837), who was part of my husband's family.
He was born in Kings Cross, Halfax. He was married Martha on 28 Jan 2801, in Halifax Parish Church, Halifax.
By the way, I have seen his date of birth sometimes given as 1772 not 1771. I'd be interested to know where you got 1771 (which is the date I have, but no source: official write ups for him usually give 1772).
Hope this helps.

Hi
The reason for the confusion may be because some people have assumed that the baptism on 8th December 1771 at Halifax Parish Church applies to John CROSSLEY who married Martha, but I suspect it is a different one, as that John Crossley was the son of a comber from Ovenden, not a weaver from Warley.

Lesley
