Courtesy of another board I have just learned of the PDF pilot for copies from the GRO £6.00, have just ordered one and it seems quite straight forward.
Does anyone know if marriage certificates and/or Bishops'Transcripts prior to 1837 - in this case 1827 - are available by the PDF as there would be no volume and page numbers.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, as it is just records from when registration started in 1837. Also at the moment it doesn't include marriage certificates, just birth and death. The marriage ones (after 1837) are still £9.25 and paper copies.

Civil Registration commenced in England and Wales 1 July 1837, and this is the basis for the GRO birth, marriage and death certificates. Prior to that date church records (of whatever denomination) were the records for baptisms, marriages and burials. Bishop's Transcripts were copies of the Church of England parish registers and were submitted to the Diocese covering that particular parish.
As groom says, the £6.00 pdf version is only available for birth and death registrations.

As the first line on the page https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp says
" The GRO has been piloting a service from 12 October 2017 to provide portable document format (PDF) copies of digitised historical birth and death records . The pilot will now run for a minimum of 9 months.
