Title: Keyland
Post by: eileen d on Friday 16 February 18 02:03 GMT (UK)
Information on Keylands around Lisburn, Glenavy, Ballymena, Toomebridge would be lovely.
Grandad was James Keyland from around Cranfield/Toome/ His first wife sadly passed and he had 9 children, looking especially for any info on them.

Thank you

We aren't allowed to post details of living, or possibly living, people and you've given us no idea of dates so it's difficult to help you with concrete information.

There is a marriage in 1920 for a James Keyland, widower, of Tamlaghtmore, Toome, son of Henry, to Jane McKeown-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1920/09246/5346799.pdf
However, I can't see any another marriage for a James Keyland in Ireland and he's not under that surname in 1901 or 1911 census records.

Likely birth for above James Keyland in 1864- parents Henry Keyland & Jane Money-

Another child William Henry born 1870-

Daughter Isabella born 1868 (mother Mooney)-

Daughter Elizabeth born 1867 (mother Mooney)-

Ellen Keyland, daughter of Henry, married 1895 John McNally-

Here they are in 1901 with son Henry-

More luck with Will Extracts-

Probate of the Will of Henry Keyland late of Ballynacooley Toome County Antrim Farmer who died 13 June 1896 granted at Belfast to James Boyle of Cranfield and James Mooney of Drumaney Farmers. Effects £309 10s. Will mentions daughter Lizzie Keyland, son James Keyland, daughters Sarah Harris & Bella Keyland, wife Jane Keyland, daughters Ellen & Lucinda.

This might be Henry's wife Jane-
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of Jane Keyland late of Ballymena County Antrim Widow who died 29 September 1907 were granted at Belfast to Lizzie Keyland Spinster. Effects £300.

Jane KEELAND died 1907 and informant was son James Keeland of Duneane Cottage, Motherwell-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1907/05516/4545817.pdf

From all the above (of this is indeed your family) then it appears Jame Keyland libed in Scotland, probably married 1st time and had children there so you'll need to search for records on Scotland's People (keeping in mind the various spellings of surname).

Aghadowey does it again with that will, the townland made me focus Ballynacooley Toome County Antrim which is in Duneane civil parish

I stopped before 1901 census so no Cargin entries but you should find an earlier relative or something of interest griffiths valuation has continuation books online at PRONI
