Title: Mary TOWLER
Post by: JANICELEEDALE on Monday 19 February 18 00:40 GMT (UK)
GREETINGS amazing people. I can't progress:

Mary Towler who married WILLIAM BUCKENHAM on 6 Apr 1851 OR 16 Mar 1851 in Cockley Cley, Norfolk, England

MOTHER (I believe) is Mary Shinfield 1801–1878 Cokcley Cley, Norfolk
FATHER (I believe) is Stephen Towler 1803–1887 Cockley Cley, Norfolk

I believe Stephen Towler's father is JOHN TOWLER 1777– Cockley Cley, Norfolk
mother Dinah Scarce/Peace 1784–1856

Thank you for your help in advance. I just can't 'proof certain' move forward from Mary

1851 census ref: HO107/1831/143/3.

Hi Janice

I am new here and do not know if what I am doing is correct.

I am the great great grandaughter of William Buckenham and Mary Towler and it is wonderful to find all this information you have here.

I would like any information you may have on my family and if there are photos available. I have some but not many I can share if you would like them. Maria Lucy Buckenham was my great granny and William is her father.

Very grateful for anything you have and it would be wonderful to find that you my be a relative.

Many thanks Rev. Lynn Bragg Australia

Just for interest - there is also mention of Mary's brother Stephen TOWLER (bap 19 Nov 1826) in trouble with the law:

"Stephen Towler, aged 22, charged with having on the 24th of March, stolen three pecks of oats, value 6d. the property of George Emery, and another, at Cockley Cley, pleaded Guilty - fourteen days hard labour."
Norfolk News, Saturday,  July 21, 1849

(Maria TOWLER (daughter of Stephen, bap 4 Mar 1832) marries George EMERY (son of George EMERY) at Norwich 29 Apr 1848)  :)

Witness to the marriage of Mary Towler to William Buckenham are Stephen Towler and Letitia Powley.
This is probably her brother Stephen as he and Letitia married 3 July 1852 at Swaffam.
Stephen was buried age 32 on 6 March 1859 at Cockley Cley.

1851 census Absolem Towler age 11 months so born 1850 is Mary's son probably by William Buckenham as in the parish record he was baptized 25 December 1851 and he was entered as parents William Buckenham and Mary. William Buckenham is then crossed out and Towler added.
