I have come to a block. Can't seem to find the birth date and/or baptism of Samuel George Fluke. It should be around 1866 as he was married to Isabella Stone in 1892 at the age of 26 years. I am also looking for his military records. thank you

Are his parents George and Rebecca Fluke? This family are on 1871 census in Trowbridge- RG10/1919/40/28 , If not, what was his father's name on the marriage cert?

Same one with the Stone family in Lambeth in 1891 - RG12/398/119/32

If registered, he should be in the
Trowbridge RD* but nothing showing. Maybe he wasn't registered.
* birthplace given as Trowbridge on all the censuses
added - see below posts #6 and 7

Think this is his entry in National Roll of Great War:
Fluke, S. G,. Private, RASC (Royal Army Service Corp). Demob August 1919

Entry in the Roll:
He volunteered in April 1915 at the age of 50, and in the same year was drafted to the Western Front, where he was engaged on important duties at Rouen, Le Havre, Calais and Boulogne. Later he was employed as a printer at the Base and rendered valuable services. He was demobilised in August 1919 and holds the 1914-5 Star, the General Service and Victoria Medals.

Trowbridge came under the registration district of Melksham - his birth appears to have been registered June quarter 1865 but surname mistranscribed as 'Flude' on original GRO index but going on to the birth index on their own site it is correctly shown as Fluke mmn Taylor.

On the 1861 census, Rebecca is listed as being born Hilperton circa 1828. There is this baptism:
Hilperton
3 August 1828
Rebecca, daughter of John Taylor(mason) and Rebecca
Given that George was a stone mason/builder on the censuses, it could be that they met through her father's work.

Misread the RD info on Genuki, Annette - my inlaws were Trowbridge and I knew it had changed at some point ::)

Hello Annette7, I had not realised that Trowbridge came under the district of Melksham. This is a difficulty I often face as an Australian I am not familiar with English towns and counties. Thank you for your help. Clever of you to find Flude instead of Fluke.
