Help needed to read this place name in Caithness Scotland
-
It looks like it could be Cleuch
-
Wondering if it could now be Clyth on the coast north of Lybster. Near Blackness :-\
-
My guess would be Cleach.
-
Neither Cleuch nor Cleach are showing on Scotlands Places in Caithness
-
The extract is from a parish record of a marriage in Watten, I have checked national library of Scotland maps and Cleach or Cleuch don't show up
-
What date was the marriage?
-
Never noticed Gadgets post. Old age and insanity again!!
Malky

That's what I suggested Malky ;D

However, it could be just the usual meaning of Cleuch, used by locals for a particular place that doesn't appear on maps
