Title: Bryan family
Post by: LBryan on Monday 19 February 18 23:48 GMT (UK)
Hello to all,
I am trying to find any info on an ancestor.  His name is Abraham Bryan b. 26-7- 1801, possibly in Coleraine.  His parents unknown.  He emigrated to Canada between 1801 and 1836.  He died in Barnston, Province of Quebec, Canada on 12-1-1877. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

Thank you hallmark.  Not 100 percent sure; but probably Anglican.

The 1831 census for Coleraine only lists 1 Bryans family. The household was headed by James Bryans and consisted of 3 males and 2 females, all Church of Ireland (ie Anglican). Perhaps that’s your family?

The Coleraine Church of Ireland baptism, marriage & burial records start in 1769. There’s a copy in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast.

1901 census has just 1 Bryans family in Coleraine:

Chas & wife Sarah Park, married 1898 in Portrush. Both born in Coleraine. His father was John Bryans, a furnace man.

Elwyn, Invaluable info!  I had run across a mention of a John being the father of Abraham.  This is certainly a promising lead. I will pursue the links you sent. Thank you, Lynwood
