Hi if anyone could give me a rough date of this half picture i have I'm believing it to be of my grandfathers school picture (but there is no writing on it), he was born 1917 and lived in Govan Glasgow the school could be St Saviours or St Anthony's in Govan it is on a cardboard type paper and was in his belongings after he died in 2005 so it must be a family member the dating of it would help to narrow it down possibly thank you all in advance. I am wondering if it is a Sunday School picture. The attire of the girls especially, with many wearing necklaces, suggests "Sunday best" wear rather than every day school wear.
-
My guess would be late 1920s early 1930s.

Scotland Street School, Glasgow 1926, for comparison

Your photo is much later...we are not allowed to post photos from the internet without the owner's permission...it's better to post a link to the online photo. I think the children look to be about 11/12ish

Could still be a school photograph. Children usually dressed up in their best outfit when photographer was scheduled to come.

Doesn't look like the same school as the brickwork is different.
I would agree post war-1920's.

The second one is posted from the internet Jim for comparison.

Teacher in your photo seems to have been wearing a shorter dress/skirt than teacher in other pic. 1 leg is visible next to girl pupil. She was wearing light or flesh-coloured stockings and shoes with straps and high heels.
If the girls normally wore pinnies at school like some younger girls in the other photo they may have taken them off to be photographed?

Thank you maiden stone, My own photo/pic I thought could be my granddad at school which would maybe date around 1928/9 as he was born 1917 if anyone thought it could be earlier then it could'nt be him but maybe one of his brothers or even sisters might be in it the other picture I posted ( without permission ) of a class circa 1917 from St Anthony's which my grand father could have went as both school where quite close by Govan having a large population at the time I was sent to compare and I could'nt tell (so apologies to Mary Blair or who owns that picture) I realise that the brickwork was different but maybe the all girl picture might have been a annex. Once again thanks for any input and time you have all spent. H

Could the teacher in the 1917 pic be the same person in the later one?
