Any info please.
COULSDON - 19th February 1784 - 'George Cooper buried. This child's throat was cut with a razor by old Dame Kerrill in a fit of lunacy on 4th Feb, 1784. (Coulsdon Parish register)
The Kerrill family was well-known locally for very many years but no further information has been found about this sad incident.

Quite chilling to read the register entry:
-
Possible Burial;
ELIZABETH Kerrill 02 Jul 1785, St John the Evangelist, Coulsdon
2 children Bapt same Church to William/Elizabeth;
WILLIAM 27 Sep 1744

Quite a few records for the surname and variants on FreeREG.
That is a beautiful painting on that site of the Old Smithy.

Thanks for all your replies, I have all this information but nothing about what happened to old Dame Kerrill, was she ever convicted?

I worked at Coulsdon South Station for a number of years. Opposite was Cane Hill Mental Hospital. It maybe worth contacting the Croydon local studies library to find out if they records that may help locate info.
