I have just recently begun my ancestry research. I have a great grandmother Elizabeth Buckley. According to the 1900 US census (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DHRQ-222?i=23&cc=1325221), she was born in Illinois in October 1896. I have searched IL birth records during that timeframe, but I haven't been able to find a birth record for her. Any ideas? ???

Then apply for a copy of the birth certificate http://www.dph.illinois.gov/topics-services/birth-death-other-records

It's possible that a birth record may not exist, but there may be other records that would provide whatever information you're looking for. You may find a more precise date/place of birth from a marriage or death record, the Social Security death index, or a Social Security application.

There are two Elizabeth Buckleys b 1896 Illinois. Which one is she?

The death record for Timothy Buckley , born 1899 , gives parents as Cornelius Buckley and Margaret Barry :

James Barry 28 and Michael Barry 22 , are both in the Buckley household in 1900 and described as brother in law.

A delayed registration in 1942 of the birth of John Lawrence Buckley in 1913 gives parents as Cornelius Buckley born 1867 Co Cork , Ireland and Margaret Eliz Barry born 1869 Co Cork :

According to that 1900 census, Cornelius arrived in USA in 1889, and Margaret in 1888.

Cornelius and Margaret are in a family tree on Ancestry. Tree knows about the Barry side of the family.
