My Gfather worked on the Panama Canal. I  have the letter he sent to his Family in 1884 from Medina North. So I assume he worked on the unsuccessful attempt by what I believe was a French consortium? Although I have not done any research in that field.

Cannot find them. I know he went to Panama then Philadephia and was never heard off again. I have searched both in Ireland and Scottish census for GGmother. But would like marrige record. My Gmother married in Glasgow in 1891.

Ha ha - you beat me to it. Got it about ten minutes ago. Found my GMothers Baptism in the same Church 26th March 1870. so worked from there. Thanks so much for taking the time to search it was really appreciated. I am still a learner - and the hunt goes on. I have so many Irish ancestors.

What does puzzle me is why when searching I find 3 variations of the Surname :- Hannon , Hanlon and O Hanlon.
Is this normal
