I am looking for a marriage certificate for Patricia and Cyril Broomhead about FEb 1943 in Nottingham. Can anyone help?
-
Welcome to RootsChat. I can't see a marriage entry via FreeBMD for the names Cyril or Patricia Broomhead in 1943 :-\ Who do you think they married?
-
Patricia J Gough or Glass (indexed twice in both surnames) married Cyril Broomhead in 1948 in March quarter in Nottingham.
Enter details into freebmd: https://www.freebmd.org.uk/
Using the registration numbers you can then order the certificate from the GRO though you will need to register: https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/menu.asp
And ...., welcome to rootschat toriajane. :)
-
Thank you! Actually perhaps I didn't ask the question properly. Patricia Gough married Cyril Broomhead. Can I see the certificate?

Only if you buy it. :)
Patricia is registered under two surnames. Presumably you are aware of this?
-

There will only be one marriage certificate, with the three names on it.

Hi toriajane
As a new member, you may not know that we have a 'no living people' policy.
Are the people you mention still alive?

Ok thanks so much, I will have a look.
I am also looking for two aunts who seems to have disappeared. Florence Eveline Wolley 1894 and her sister Sara Ann Bridget Wolley 1889. Mother Ellie(Eliza) O'Connor, Cork 1847. Father James Samual Theaker Woolley, Nottingham b. 1844 d. 1897. Can you help with this?

Where and when did you last have record of them
-
They are the sisters of my Grandmother Martha E Wolley. I had never tried to find them until now. But I can't seem to get any information.
-
None of them are living. All of them born in the 1890's
-
Thanks for the clarification.
Happy hunting!
If they want to be found, we'll have a really good go at finding them.
-
Florence Eveline was registered September quarter 1894 - Nottingham, page 307. Surname given as Woolley.

Yes they seem to be Woolley rather than Wolley.
Birth reg for James Samuel Theaker Woolley is Mar qtr 1844 Nottingham, mother’s maiden name Theaker.

right...are there any marriage certs for them?
-
Have you tried looking on freebmd for marriages or deaths
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
-
I Have...I didn't find anything but I am a terrible searcher...! Sorry
-
perhaps you gave up too early, more you practice better you get.
FreeBMD is flexible tick the Phonetic box and utilise and for births & deaths also try the index here https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp (https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp)
Searching for Wo*ley will find both spellings see info on wildcards https://www.freebmd.org.uk/search-help.shtml (https://www.freebmd.org.uk/search-help.shtml) similar use of * and ? can be done on Ancestry and Findmypast
https://blog.findmypast.co.uk/maximise-search-returns-with-wildcards-family-history-2509437611.html (https://blog.findmypast.co.uk/maximise-search-returns-with-wildcards-family-history-2509437611.html)
Order all certs from the GRO site, others sites just act as intermediaries and charge more

Thanks, Jon-nl I have indeed looked at all the places you have suggested. In fact, I have sent off for many b/d/m certs for my family and found a huge amount of information...But sometimes you just plain old get stuck:-( Thanks again
