My descendant Mercy Foot was a lodger in the former inn before her death. I had visited the pub before it closed without that knowledge and now it is a private house. The only picture I have seen of it as a pub shows a group outside and the pub is not shown. Would anyone know if there is a picture somewhere showing the old inn? Many thanks Mark

The Dorset Record Office have the plans for the Good Hope Inn in Hilfield.
They could have a photograph of it if you contact them.

My uncle and aunt, Bert and Alice White owned The Good Hope for many years and I have very happy memories of visiting them there and Uncle Bett's lovely garden out the back with their chickens. I have a very old photo of Aunt Al and her family but I'm not sure if it's outside the GH.

Many thanks for getting back. I wish I had visited the Inn. My gt gt gt grandfather lived in a cottage at Remedy (just up from the pub) and his son George was woodman/gamekeeper at Up Cerne.
Thank you once again and if I come across a picture I will sent it to you.
Mark
