When I saw more Herts records released recently by FindMyPast I thought ' now I'll find ggg mas maiden name' Nope, wasn't to be . GGG gfather Thomas HORTON bapt 1769 Flamstead married Mary b
c1779, unknown maiden name early 1800's . Their first child, John bapt 1809 Gt Gaddesden. Rest of children also b Gt Gaddesden Mary died there 1849 and Thomas 1855.
Perhaps this marriage record just didn't survive ?????????
Suggestions appreciated

Do you have Thomas/Mary in the 1841 Census?
If so is Mary born in County?
If not the Marriage may have taken place outside of Herts.

Yes have Mary in 1841 census for Great Gaddesden area as local. Thomas comes up in the 1851 for same area b 1769 Flamstead, not far from Gt Gaddesden. Have details of all the kids marriages. The eldest , john, married at St Marys Northchurch ( again not far away ) Are many small villages around ;D. I grew up in this area so knew it well.
They could have married anywhere............ But if there is such a thing as a pattern , that wouldn't fit
Are a couple of trees on Ancestry but no ones got Marys maiden name
I've wondered around Family Search a few times......... inconslusive
Can we get access to BT's still ? as the LDS dont distribute films any more

Yes this Mary is my ggg grandmother with maiden name unknown. The village name is POTTEN END. Hand written records can be hard to decipher. Dunno where her hubby, Thomas, was when the 1841 census taken, maybe just had his head down ;) He is recorded in the 1851 living with a daughter Esther BURNHAM .
Thanks

I found Thomas in 1851 easily but had trouble finding the Family in 1841 Census! Thats why I asked the question.
As we all know sometimes born in county or not is incorrect in the 1841 Census.
