The probate was granted 05 Aug 1938

Yes, it was where two generations, my father and I, started life. When I visited Dunedin about 5 years ago, imagine my surprise when I opened the Saturday newspaper to find a full page spread about 'El Nido', as it was on the market. It had certainly stood the test of time. ;D

The relationship between Matilda Mary (May) CUPPLES and the WILSON family is clarified somewhat in her Probate record.
Frederick Herman WILSON had married Catherine FORBES in 1892.
He was born at Riverton - and Catherine at Orepuki.

The headstone at Orepuki Cemetery for Catherine WILSON - died 1926 (w/o Frederick Herman), as well as naming them both, also carries the following names.
CUPPLES - Robert / Matilda / Hamilton
WILSON - John / Elizabeth / Frank / Caroline / John W.
HERRICKS - Charles J.
A note on the cemetery record says > "(All named on three sides of the stone)".

There is the burial of a Robert Cupples in the Orepuki cemetery, but no details such as age are provided.

None of the people you've listed above ^, appear to have been in New Zealand.
There are no apparent marriages or deaths for them in this country ... they don't appear in NZ electoral rolls.
