Good afternoon and thank you in advance for any help that can be given,
I have included an extract from the baptism register showing the Baptism of my wife's gg-grandmother Ann Elwis to Mordecai Elwis and Margaret Elwis (Neé Dion) on May 25th 1842 at Gainsborough All Saints.
From the 1861 and 1881 census her birth place is Blyton (I have not found her on the 1851 or 71 census). She married George Moulson in March 1875 and died in October 1889)
In the extract my guess is Norton Car (which doesn't seem to exist). I can't see how it can be Blyton Car. There is a town called Morton not far away - could that be it?
Thanks again,
Nic

Thank you, Rosie99
Are Morton Carr and Morton different places? I can't seem to find Morton Carr on the map.

Nic

(I have not found her on the 1851 or 71 census)
1851 could be under Elvidge
Mordecai Elvidge 66
Margaret 49
Fanny 17
Ann 9
Thomas 7
Mordecia R 5
Birthplace for all the children down as Morton Lincolnshire

Hi Millipede
You superstar! I would never have found them under Elvidge but the location, names and dates are too close for it not to be right (although Mordecia R is a new name for me).
Thank you,
Nic

...although looking into it further there does also appear to be a Elvidge family in the area who are also farmers, so will leave it as one to investigate further

It looks right to me - Mordecai & Margaret have a 5 yr old Fanny in 1841 (potentially rounded down)
I think "Mordecia R" is actually Mordecai, and is known as Robert in later censuses - there are births for Mordecai Robert and Thomas in Gainsborough with mmn Turner

Thank you Mabel for following this up - much appreciated.
