Apologies, but if he was born 1896/7 he won't appear on the 1891 census. :-\

Arthur Spooner who marries Elsie Roberts in 1910 is Arthur Austin Spooner. It was a civil marriage ceremony so the certificate would have to be purchased.
-
1939 Register gives a birth date in 1888, with Elsie born 1890.
-
And this is the 1911 entry for Arthur and Elsie

-
1891 Census has a Arthur Austin Spooner born c 1889 Staffordshire living in Trentham with Parents JOHN/EMMA and Siblings.
-
That entry is on Familysearch.Org, havent found it on Anc yet.
1901 we have;
John Spooner, 44, Head, Mar, Bricklayer, born Longton
Emma Spooner, 48, Wife, Mar

Well done Trish - Dresden is the Ecclesiastical District, of which Longton is a part :)
John Spooner married Emma Blundert in 1881. ADDED: Not sure now, from what you've found, Trish. I can't see a marriage between Spooner and Austin.
-
Maybe they never married as Emma was already married to a Mr Austin?
Anyhow back tomorrow off to bed for me :)
-
John Spooner married Emma Blundert in 1881.
That is a different couple. I think Emma may have been Emma MIL(L)WARD married to Thomas AUSTIN in 1872. Eliza registered Stoke on Trent, Albert and Arthur registered Stone. I don't see how Albert is not John SPOONER's son when he and Emma were together in 1891. Perhaps they met just before the census and Emma was already pregnant. Albert's birth was registered in the Dec quarter.

Eliza registered Stoke on Trent, Albert and Arthur registered Stone.

The births above Eliza 1877, Arthur 1888, Albert 1891 GRO indexes mmn Milward/Millward
Is this a possibility for the marriage John to Emily :-\
Transcription only from England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1988
30 Dec 1895 Oulton (near Stone), Staffordshire
John Plant SPOONER age 37 father John
Emily AUSTIN age 42 father Richard MILLWOOD

The marriage entry image, available via FindMyPast, confirms the information. JPS is a bachelor Bricklayer, aged 37, father John also a Bricklayer. Emily Austin (x) is 42 and a widow. Father is Richard Millwood, a Potter.
-
Bit confused but keep reading it will sink in. In time. Thanks
-
Intriguing or what? :-\
John Plant Spooner marries Emily Austin (nee Millward) 30 December 1895.
There is another marriage for John Plant Spooner in 1904 (StaffordshireBMD) and the bride's name is Eliza Austin - it's a civil marriage so the certificate would have to be purchased.
-
So he may of married the sister is that right?
-
I think it is perhaps coincidence. 1911 shows a John Spooner with wife Eliza, married for 7 years. Occupation fits but age doesn't as 1895 marriage is aged 37, and this one 1911 aged 40.
Sorry for the confusion. :'(

Not a surname at all (as far as I know) - this was a mistranscription of the surname Spooner ::)
-
Thanks all for helping explain and adding to what I had found.
The confusion is that there are 2 John Spooner born c 1855+/- 3 years in Staffs both married to a Emma.
And yes the name is Spooner on image of the Census I posted and badly mistranscribed on Anc as Lpoown
Anyhow thanks to Ladyhawke/BumbleB/Dundee for the extra info on sorting out the info on Arthur Austin Spooner :)
