I believe his birth is Sept 9th 1833 Dusseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany taken from an online tree...
from Victorian BDM death his parents William (pos Whilhelm) Braun and his mother Augusta Louise Karoline (Kury)
I am looking see if I can find how he arrived into Australia....and if possible the date of his marriage to Emma Slow
:)Cheran

Marriage:
1877 1302 BRAUN Charles to SLOW Emma
Of note, their first child was born well before their marriage:
1859 9566 BRAUN Louisa Wilhelmina parents Chas and Emma (Slow)

thanks
all their children were born well before that date I just found a date of 15 November 1858 match in my tree in Dunolly, Victoria, Australia their first daughter Louisa is born in 1859... I can see the marriage on Vict BDM 1877 though so I wonder if that was the registration date or if they married in a church which wasn't registered in 1858????
-
Not quite all. One was born after marriage:
1879 10813 BRAUN William John

Sorry Just found Him he died 10 June 1897 in Woolshed flat as well as his brother Charles William born 1870 if I have this correct...
:(
-
From my resource which indicates to me that their 1858 marriage was not registered until 1877. Others may hold a different view. Remember this event would have taken place during the Victorian Gold Rush and it possible not all district registrations reached the Registry.
If you purchase one of their children's birth certificates it should also show their date of marriage and where it took place.
BRAUN Charles Born Germany
SLOW Emma Born Wiltshire
1858 Reg#1302 x 1877
BRAUN Charles Born Germany
SLOW Emma Born Wiltshire
1877 Reg#1302
You can find their children's births on Vic BDM and they all took place at Mt Korong and Wedderburn. Passed through this area last Tuesday. :)

church which wasn't registered in 1858?
That doesn't quite make sense to me. Marriages took place in peoples' homes, schools, halls, court houses as well as churches and manses/rectories etc. It was the responsibility of the officiating minister to register the marriage with the local BDM registrar. I doubt this always occurred in the 1850's in that area of Victoria. You have to read about the social conditions and the history of the era.

Sorry Cando, I always think of churches first and you are correct it could have been in anyone of those places....
I think the birth certificate purchase of one is the best option to confirm it..... does the Victorian births usually records this on there as I know when I look at SA births of that it era it generally doesn't...
-
I wouldn't rush in a buy anything just yet :)
It is also possible that when they married in 1877 that they simply told the officiating minister etc that they had married previously. I should have written that also.
Now this MAY be the same man stating he was single in 1870!!!!!
BRAUN Charles 34 years Single Born Germany Miner In Colony 16 years Left from Port of London.
Hospital admission
Date 19 Sep 1870
Religion - Less common religion
Dunolly Hospital Admissions register 1860-1900.

Victorian birth registrations show the age and place of birth of the parents; the date and place of their marriage. Of course not everyone was honest.

An online forum suggests you are correct re Alice in Hay and her death year.
Alice and Patrick had a son Patrick Ernest in 1882 (VIC) and a Patrick E with parents Patrick and Alice died in Hay in 1888. His death cert would confirm her maiden name, I think.

Cheran I think you are experienced enough to search for the bdm's and as you have access to an online tree I am wondering why you need assistance.
Do you have anything specific you need help with ie you can't find at all?
