Have you found the couple in the next census?  What's her age and birthplace?

She seems to be with her widowed mum Sarah in East Ham in the 1901 census - Kate is 19 born Aldershot.

1901: RG13/1603/41/16.

Just for info if you do not already have it Kate's, Birth date is listed as 12th May 1881 in the records I found with her husband Richard's being 14th May 1879

Can I plead the 5th on that as I am not sure I am allowed to say something like the number 1,939 linked with another word like Register!

I also notice that Kate and Richard had children over a long period of time - must have been strange for their first child William (born in 1902) to suddenly have a baby Sister when he was 22. I haven't checked but it would have been possible for him to have had children who then had an Aunt younger than them!!

It is easy enough to deduce a date of birth using the free index by narrowing down the year, then month and day until you get a postive result.

that is what I did

Strange that you did it for Richard since he died in 1970 and his d-o-b is given in the GRO death index.

I just happened to have been using the FindMyPast 1939 Register at the time, so I was there on the screen to input name etc.
