Title: Buisness Premises 1920
Post by: my family tree on Monday 19 March 18 11:55 GMT (UK)
Wondering how I would find the details of my Grandfathers business details from 1920.?
I have the address of 375 Mansfield Road Nottingham in the year of 1920.
I am pretty sure it was some sort of car showrooms etc but need to find out who actually owned it ,is that at all possible?

Thank in advance.

Insolvency proceedings in 1922/3 reported in the Gazette:

"DOUGHTY, Robert William, residing and trading at 375, Mansfield-road, lately residing at 114. Raleigh-street, and trading at Eland-street, all in Nottingham. MOTOR ENGINEER."

Also from the Gazette in 1922:

"NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between Robert William
Doughty and us, the undersigned, George Frederick Sykes and John Cyril Holland, carrying on business as Motor Engineers, at 375, Mansfield-road, under the style or firm of " R. W. DOUGHTY & SON," has been dissolved by mutual consent as and from the 30th day of June, 1922. All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said George Frederick Sykes.—Dated this 10th day of July, 1922.
STANLEY BLYTHEN,
Trustee of Robert William Doughty.
GEORGE FREDERICK SYKES.
JOHN CYRIL HOLLAND."

From newspaper reports of the bankruptcy proceedings it looks like Doughty and his partners bought the premises in early to mid 1921. Not quite the period that you are looking for. There is a Mr Bush at that address looking for a typist in March 1921.

He was advertising in local papers. It just says "Bush" - I am assuming it was a Mr.
