Title: 2nd King's Shropshire Light Infantry in the 1911 overseas census
Post by: willyam on Tuesday 20 March 18 21:41 GMT (UK)
I am seeking guidance on how to find the 2nd King's Shropshire Light Infantry in the 1911 overseas census.

It is my understanding that the 2nds were in India at the time but, to date, I have not been able to find them.

Any help will be gratefully received.

I am sure there is a better way of doing it but by finding a man with a distinctive name I get to the 1911 for the battalion.   Class: RG14; Piece: 34991; Page: 1

Enter the name CFB Winterscale, keyword Military on Ancestry and as if by magic it will appear in the results.

Done this way because I didn't have a name.  Otherwise simply search the 1911 for the name using military as a keyword, the census is counted as an England census.

Thank you very much for responding so quickly and so helpfully.

I will now be able to get stuck into tracing (up to) 5 KSLI soldier ancestors.
