Hello , I managed to get the 1831 census off FindMyPast for a person I was looking for but sadly it does not give his place of birth , is this normal ? He was John Crossan living at Ballyneal Beg ,Artrea , Loughinsholin , Londonderry .Any advice or help would be much appreciated , thank you .
Regards
Alan

I think they are searchable on FindMyPast...

https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0182 Ardtrea and Desertlin
Archdiocese of Armagh | Counties of Derry, Tyrone
Variant forms of parish name:
Moneymore
Artrea
Desertlin
Records start too late....

Thanks anyway , I think he was born between 1806-1811. Where else could I try ?

The 1831 census only lists head of household by name, then number of males and females, etc.
According to this list no parish registers before 1832-

Sadly, this is often the farthest many people can trace a particular ancestor.

Thank you , that is frustrating but glad we got back so far anyway .
