I had an earlier thread: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=777056.new;topicseen#new asking about my ancestor Ann TRUSS. On the 1851 census for Kent, she says she was born in Wickham, Bucks, which I've interpreted as Wycombe.
I went to my local FHL and could not find her baptism in the register for Wycombe 1760-1765 (she says she's 88 in the 1851 census).
However, I did get to look at the marriage register for Kent. Ann Truss married Richard Hayes by Banns in Shipborne, Kent on 4 Oct 1801, and both are of the parish. There are two witnesses: John and Esther Colgate (or Cobgate, hard to read). I don't know who they are. The bride/groom signed with an X. What is not mentioned is whether Ann was a spinster or a widow.
I finally ordered Ann's death certificate as well. She's registered by her daughter Mary, who says she's 94 - which puts her birth year at closer to 1761, different from the 1851 census and 1841 census (which indicates she's b. about 1766).
I am still stuck and cannot find Ann's baptism in Buckinghamshire! I am further confused because Ann had children from 1802-1812. So her youngest daughter Susan was born when she was 51? That seems utterly impossible in that day and age (and is extremely rare even now).
Any advice is appreciated!

It might possibly be Wickam in Berkshire ? I suppose Berks and Bucks might sound the same to a stranger.

Hi
She would have been quite old for it to be a first marriage. Have you considered two possible marriages in Great Marlow (not all that far from Wycombe):
25 Jan 1784 (Banns) John Truss and Ann Gray
27 Nov 1788 James Truss and Ann Oxlade
I did a skim read of your other thread and didn't see these mentioned (forgive me if you've considered them). Worth following up.

While I was doing more searching I did notice a Richard Truss and wife Ann baptising children in Shipbourne, Kent, where Ann Truss ended up with her new husband. He seems to be buried in Hadlow, Kent in 1834 age 45 with birth year about 1789.
Could this maybe a child of Ann's first marriage --maybe then she could be Ann Oxlade b. 1769 in Gt Marlow to Richard and Mary?
Haven't found any burials in Gt Marlow for the Truss husbands.

I'm not familiar with many areas of Kent but there's a marriage 12 May 1816 in Bidborough between a Richard Truss and an Ann Shorter.
It doesn't look too far from Shipbourne.

I now found a 1789 baptism in Gt Marlow for Richard Truss to James/Ann Truss, and also one for Maria Truss in 1791. Then no more.
There are two James Truss baptisms, one to Charles/Susanna and one to Richard/Mary so maybe the name Richard does not narrow down the correct Ann Oxlade baptism after all. At least not so fast.
I can't find any sign of Maria but Richard did have a few children - I think that's the right marriage. He was a labourer.

Richard and Mary = Richard and Maria -possible ?
Added - what were the children's names of the marriage to Richard Hayes?
