I have relative seeking help to find what happened to this lady :

Archway has a Rubina READ married 23 Sep 1914 to a Richard HOARE with children named Zelma Agnes b.23 Dec 1914 and and Emma Olive b.10 Sep 1917.

I searched for 'Ruby' only as that is what she had on the marriage cert.
and it is definitely dated 25 Sept 1915
Daughter birth is 1916/9320 and her death is 1977
Hopefully now we can find a birth record for Rubina??? What is Archway?

The births/marriage dates given in the Army record and the dates given on the BDM NZ website disagree by a year. I guess you'd go by the BDM NZ website. Maybe there's a birth/marriage notice in PapersPast (https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers)

You might need to check the Births fiche for a mention of Rubina. Her birth definitely doesn't seem to be on the BDM NZ website.

At PapersPast, a report on the Divorce of Richard HOARE v. Ruby HOARE, states that Ruby deserted him.

* Do you know who raised the daughters, Zelma and her sister (- seems sister's name was Esma or Esme - rather than Emma) ??
It appears that Zelma at least, attended school in the Petone (Hutt Valley) area of Wellington.

--> and earlier - 20 December 1929 (E/Post) ... Zelma HOARE a pupil at Petone Central School.

Mmm ... it's not terribly clear from the above notice whether "Mrs. HOARE" was in fact in Melbourne ???
Richard HOARE disappears from NZ Electoral rolls after 1928 (when he was living with his mother Hannah at Petone).
I note that he died in Melbourne (reg. at Fitzroy) in 1955.

Meantime my niece's business associate who was my enquirer - obtained the death certificate and says it is not the one and same, RUBINA REID (parents are not the same as on the marriage cert)
So....
Witnesses on the marriage cert are Hannah Hoare (mother of bridegroom, Petone) and A G Harper, Clerk, Wellington
The Hoare family info is pretty good via FindaGrave and Geni.com

Have you by any chance tried to climb the tree of Zelma, the daughter? By doing so, it may be possible to make contact with descendants, who could have knowledge of Ruby's birth details.

Its the info on RUBY/RUBINA and her parents Thomas Reid and Margaret nee Ferguson that is being sought now
However, very interesting to see who Richard Hoare is buried with in Fawkner - his wedding witness 'A G HARPER' might well be a cousin. Thanks Jamjar!
