Title: Redcliffe Street, Bristol in 1795, butcher/food/drink, residential or a shop?

Hi all

I have found a listing for my relation Prudence Strawbridge in 1795 as a butcher/food/drink (p/s).

The address is Redcliffe Street, Bristol.

Would this have been a shop or a residential address?

The listing is in UK & US Directories 1680 - 1830.

Any information would be appreciated.

Bristol City Council has online maps available (maps.bristol.gov.uk/kyp/?edition=)

The 1746-1803 map has very little detail of Redcliff Street - (note spelling! I used to work at No. 1 Redcliff Street!).
A little more detail on the 1828 map - but it's not a help :-\

However, 1844-1888 OD map shows a lot of industry:
Oil Stores, Soap & Candle Factory, Vinegar Works, Brewery, Tobacco Manufacturer and . . . . .
Confectionery Works ;D

At the time Redcliffe Street was a very busy thoroughfare, being the main entry to the city from the south. It would have been a mixture of all sorts of properties, both commercial and residential but was particularly known for its coaching inns
