John Strawbridge and Jane Skull are in my family tree and I would like to know more about them.
If you think you can help, please get in touch.
Thanks
Kat

Can you please provide some details of a timescale

I see they married in Bristol, Gloucestershire on 9/12/1759 and their children born there too. So why is this on the Dorset board?

It is on the Dorset board because I think that John Strawbridge was born in Stockland, Dorset.

Is this the entry you are referrring to from familysearch :-\
Name: John Strawbridge
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 1737
Baptism Place: Stockland, Dorset, England
FHL Film Number: 1239246
This entry appears to be mistranscribed as the film number given relates to Stockland, Devon
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&query=%2Bfilm_number%3A1239246
There is a possible marriage for him in 1772 transcribed both as Stockland Dorset & Stockland Devon :-\
-
rosie99, why mistranscribed, how do you know that?
-
Could be in either county - depends on year
"Stockland
Stockland and its adjoining parochial chapelry of Dalwood, formed a detached part of Dorset until 1842, when it was added to Devon by Act of Parliament
1841 Census records are part of Dorset"

The LDS catalogue shows the film number for that entry as 1239246 as shown in my other post - this is what the catalogue says
Items 1 - 4: Bishop's transcripts for Stockland, 1731-1836
Author: Church of England. Parish Church of Stockland (Devonshire)
As I mentioned there is a marriage in Stockland that could be that John Strawbridge :-\
Why do you think this is your John
-
Firstly I still don't understand why you think 'mistranscribed'?
I don't know which baptism date relates to the John Strawbridge in my tree!!!!! All I know for sure is that a John Strawbridge and a Jane Skull married and are in my tree.

Hi
I had a look at this for someone on the chat room the other day. The records I found for a marriage and a sons baptism record the surname as strawbridg not strawbridge. Although it was only a quick search, I didn't find any records spelt strawbridg apart from those two.
Regards
Jon

The marriage was in Bristol so it is more likely that he could have been born in that area. Unfortunately not many records for Bristol area are available online.
Do you have Johns death/burial, does it give his age at that time
