Thank you for that info, was his wife Marian Elizabeth Walkden and did they have children.

If they married in England/Wales you should be able to find them on freebmd.  You can also check whether there were any children born to the marriage on the same website.

What more can you tell us about him after the 1901 census I found  :-\

Thank you for that info, was his wife Marian Elizabeth Walkden and did they have children.

Can't see any births for Colden/Walkden.

Why do you think Marian Elizabeth Walkden could be his wife?

Will go and search BMD and see what I can find out about Walkden unless spelling of surname is wrong.

Right - I think you have got a bit confused here!

Have now found that the marriage of a William Coldham to a Marion Elizabeth Walkden took place 21/10/1914 Vernon, British Columbia, Canada.

I've subsequently found their deaths Marion Elizabeth Coldham bc.1878, died 3/2/1961 Kelowna, British Columbia and William Coldham bc.1883, died 7/11/1964 Kelowna, B.C.   (1921 Canada Census shows he was bc.1881 England).

So, this William (who was a plain William) was bc.1880-1883 England and can't be the W F R J Coldham born in 1895!

Is it the William b.1880-1883 England who married Marion Elizabeth Walkden in 1914 you are actually interested in or WFRJ Coldham born 1895?

That was a good find Annette  :)

Just to add a bit -

On the 1921 census the Coldhams have a son William A Coldham b. 1917, British Columbia.
Residence - Peachland, Yale, British Columbia

Yes, the son appears to be William Anthony Coldham b.8/4/1917, died 19/3/2007 Peachland, BC.

The 1911 Canadian census records William Coldham b. 1881, he is living with his brother Thomas Coldham b. 1874.

His brother's name may help to locate William before he emigrated to Canada.

I had come to exactly the same conclusions regarding family of William Coldham - his birth reg'd June. 1882 Sudbury, mmn Orbell.

Parents William Coldham and Jessie Orbell married in London - 15/4/1874 St. Botolph, Bishopsgate - he son of William, she dau. of Joseph.   I see from census that Jessie was born in Pentlow, Essex.

Looks like William Coldham left Liverpool for Canada on 16/4/1903 although cannot see when future wife Marion Elizabeth Walkden left the UK.

She was born in Ashwell, Hertfordshire and must have gone to Canada between 1911-1914.   She hadn't been married before.

I wonder if they'd first met in London (where they both were in 1901) or whether they'd met once she got to Canada.

Marriage record -

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JD8V-RLK

Marion was still in England for the 1911 -

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWFX-GM4

Therefore Marion would have emigrated between 1911 and 1914

WFRJ  born 1895 info if possible to solve a mystery to where the connection to WALKDEN comes in.

Prefer info on WFJR only if possible sorry for the confusion but I have looked at your info and don't think there is any connection to Walkden.

You have his birth registration and parents marriage registration details, also location in 1901.  You need to be clearer with us what other information you are looking for if any.

My friend wondered if he married.
Title: Re: Coldham

You would need to locate him after the 1901 census as he could have married anywhere.  What does your friend know about him that would help your search
Title: Re: Coldham
Post by: Annette7 on Monday 02 April 18 11:49 BST (UK)
This has become so confusing - you asked if WFRJ was married to Marion Elizabeth Walkden and we've explained that the William Coldham who did was someone else entirely.

We've also explained that there is no trace of WFRJ in the UK born Gt. Ellingham after the 1901 census - no marriages, no death and no trace in 1911 census index.

Sorry about the confusion but that is what the mystery is where did he go and he was only young when he vanished from the family.

Do you have the rest of the family in 1911, could you please give details

Perhaps if you give us confirmed details and connections between the Coldham/Walkden families that you know of then we can all stop being so confused as to actually what your request is and help you further.
