Peter Copland married Isabel Shand 27 July 1805, Rathven, Banffshire (no witnesses mentioned). They went on to have 7 children:
Margaret 1806-1876
William 1808-1854 (married to Helen Williamson Horn)
Peter 1811 -
Isabella 1812-1884
Jane 1815 -
Janet (Jessie) – 1818 – 1900
John 1820-1870 died in Australia
I have no birth date or death date for Peter. Isabels birth date could possibly be January 1787 born in New Spynie, Moray if she is the daughter of William Shand and Margaret Young.
I cannot find Peter and Isabel in any census so possibly already died by 1841?
Does anyone else have them in their family tree or have any information please?

Have you tried LIBINDX? libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp

Yes only managed to get their marriage date from there, thanks.

DELETED [ I mistakenly thought is was Peter, the son's birth, you were looking for. Sorry.]

Scotland’s People Records
COPLAND PETER ISABEL SHAND 27/07/1805 Rathven
There were two Isabel’s born around the same time but given the names of their children the one you mention would seem to fit better.
SHAND ISABEL WILLIAM SHAND/MARGARET YOUNG 29/01/1787 New Spynie or Spynie
SHAND ISABEL JOHN SHAND/KATHRINE MORRISON 22/12/1788 Speymouth
Regarding Peter there a 5 Copland, in Aberdeenshire & 2 Coupland records both in the Orkneys, none seem ideal but maybe he was born somewhere in Aberdeenshire.
There is Isabella Coupland age 62 (1789) born Rathven, Banffshire (which may not be correct) on the 1851 census in
Low St. Buckie, Pauper Formerly Fish Dealer.

Thank you, I believe she is the daughter of William Shand and Margaret Young, I am still trying to confirm when she died and also when Peter died, there was a Peter Copland in the 1841 and 1851 census which could possibly be him and its unconfirmed so far.

Could you please provide a link to your previous thread about this couple? This would avoid duplication of effort.

Isabella Copland who died in 1871 was the daughter of John Copland and Mary Barclay.
-
It would appear that my Isabel(la) Shand is not the daughter of William Shand and Margaret Young. I have found a death certificate on SP (1867) with the names of Isabella, William and margaret but with Isabella a widow of John Mackay and listing a witness of Roderick Bremner who was married to Sarah Mackay daughter of John Mackay and Isabella Shand. Back to the drawing board for me :(.

You may get some clues from witnesses' names on Peter and Isabel's children's christenings.
Two here http://charlesflett.co.uk/R_BirthsV1_p230.htm:
18 MAY 1806 PETER COPLAND in Buckie had by his wife ISABEL SHAND a Daughter baptized and named MARGARET. Witnesses William Copland and Margaret Shand. [Vol.1 p.221].
31 JULY 1808 PETER COPLAND in Knowhead had by his Wife ISABEL SHAND a Son baptized and named WILLIAM. Witnesses William Copland in Moss side and William Farquhar. [Vol.1 p.230a].

There seem to be several threads about these Coplands though some are a generation or two later than the ones in the present thread.

There is one other connected thread to the Peter we are discussing now here www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=791527.0
Reading through it again...did you try to research the family of Peter Copland and Margaret Geddes further? With a William, Thomas and a Peter Copland showing as witnesses to christenings, they look good possibilities for possible family for your Peter you would think.

I am in the process of running 2 seperate trees, one Peter Copland and Margaret Geddes and the other Peter Copland and Elizabeth Grant. Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks for all your help :).

Just came across this inscription at Rathven when looking for something else:
In memory of Peter Copeland, late farmer in Moss-side, Golochy, who died the 18th Decr. 1818, in the 80th year of his age. This stone is erected by his surviving sons as a mark of respect.
-
Thank you GR2 I believe this may be related as a Peter Copland of Mossside was a witness to one of the childrens baptism.

This is a link to the monumental inscriptions in the old kirkyard at Rathven:

Hi,
I came upon this post looking for my own Shand ancestors. I have your Isabel(la) Shand and Peter Copland on a family tree that was given to me by a relative, that's been giving to him... So I don't have the source for the info on it. However, it does seem reliable. This tree has the parents of your Isabel Shand as William Shand (d. 18 Dec 1800) and Jean Baxter (d. 25 Jan 1828). They were from Duffus, Morayshire, Scotland. I hope this helps! :)

Thanks Natasha I will look into the information, is the tree that you mentioned on a website that I could look at? Thanks.

No problem!
Sorry, I'm new to Rootschat and can't work out how to reply to your PM. My email is (*) and is probably the best way to contact me.
I have a hardcopy of the family tree, of which the original maker has passed, so I don't think it's online and I'm not sure how to find the sources behind the research. But if it helps you with your research, I'm more than happy to share the tree with you via email!

Peter Copland and Isabel Shand are my 4x great grandparents. I don't have a lot of information on them as I've just started looking at this line of my tree.
I have my tree on Ancestry if anyone is interested, you should be able find me by searching Hazel Buscu

There's a mention somewhere upthread of an Isabella Copland who died in Rathven in 1871, mother's maiden surname Barclay. This Isabella Copland was single and too young to be the wife of Peter C.
She is likely to be the one aged 68 in the 1861 census, who is a pauper domestic servant, unmarried, and not in the same household as the other Copelands listed.
FWIW there are three separate household on Page 26 of ED 7 with Copelands
(1) Isabella as above
(2) Elizabeth Copeland, 62, born Grange; George Smith, son-in-law, 27; Margaret Smith, daughter, 21, born Rathven; Isabella Copeland, daughter, 37, born Keith; Ellen Williamson, granddaughter, 10.
(3) Alexander Copeland, 23 and sister Ann Copeland, 26, born Rathven and sister Janet Copeland, 17, born Grange; and two servants.
On the previous page, but same street, is
(4) Elizabeth Copeland, 32; daughter Elizabeth McIntosh, 4.
