I think this might be the Banner family in 1871 mistranscribed and living in Haydock in the Warrington Reg District - Everyone except the father listed as born Haydock
Henry Bannan 40 Collier b Newark Notts
Ellen Bannan 37
Catherine Bannan 16
William Bannan 15
Henry Bannan 13
Ellen Bannan 11
James Bannan 8
Mary Anne Bannan 4
Alice Bannan 2
Most likely birth for Alice -
ALICE BANNER Mothers Maiden Name DEARDEN
GRO Ref 1869 March Qrtr WARRINGTON Vol 08C Page 145
And there is a marrage online on Anc of an Henry Banner to Ellen Dearden on 18 May 1853 - Ashton, in Makerfield, Lancashire Henry is a Collier age 23 - Father Thomas Banner - Shoemaker and Ellen age 20 - Father James Dearden - Collier (Both Henry and Ellen made their mark)
Kay
Added - The family seem to mostly be transcribed as Bannan and I think sadly this Alice may have married as Alice Bannan to George Thomas Allen in 1895 :-\

Hi I am looking at all the very prompt replies all look good but not sure on the 1891 details as Margaret was a widow at 29 on the 1881 census with two children George T age 12 and Elizabeth age 10

Hi Carolyn,
If you look at the 1881 for the Allen family you will see there is another child - Mary A Allen b. 1872, Widnes. This ties in with the 1891 posted where Margaret has a daughter Mary A Allen b.1872, Widnes.
Margaret Allen 29
George T. Allen 12
Elizabeth Allen 10
Mary A. Allen 9
RG11 Piece 3725 Folio 54 Page 44
I can see on the 1891 that Margaret has a husband John Allen but it could be a case that he is living with Margaret but not actually her husband despite taking her name. It's a possibility :)

Hi I am looking at the 1891 census showing John with Margaret they did marry in 1869 is there an address for them in 1891 there may be a simple explanation as to why she is a widow in 1881 but he is back with her in 1891
An address may confirm it is the right couple. This is for a friend so I want to be able to confirm what I tell her if I can

Henry Bannan and Ellen lived in Clipsley Cottages ,Haydock .
on this site all the children are recorded although Bannan is spelt slightly differently - here is the Direct ancestors birth date and baptism

8 children in all
so we definitely know Clipsley Cottages - not too far from Widnes ( I am in Speke ) - if it was me I would have to find out if those cottages are still there - good luck
