Elisabetha is my grand aunt, born in the Banat in 1866, she came to Detroit in 1921 with her three daughters.
I have Find A Grave for her burial in 1941. My cousin, who is her great grandson, has this picture of her. The picture confuses me because of the TV, which seems to be from the 50's.
Help with dating the picture is what I would like, but my cousin would probably appreciate seeing a better image.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Sorry ..But no enough quality to do better ..If you can Re-scan it with 300 DPI to gain better results

Hi lfischer46
Welcome to Rootschat :)
I also think that the photo might well be 1950s - because of the TV and the furnishings/decoration. Is your cousin who sent you the photo sure that it is Elisabetha? Maybe it could be another relative.

I've found what is said to be a 1940 TV but I think it would be quite small compared with the one in your photo:

A clean up from me.
As others have said, that TV is from a much later date than the 1940s. I cannot say what TVs were like in Canada, but in 1953 in England for the Coronation, there was a big surge in the sale of TVs. The reports seem to be that people were watching on TVs from 9" screen to 15" screen.
I got married in 1958 and the TV we had then as far as I can remember was a 16" screen.

Hi and welcome to RootsChat....I'm not convinced that it's a T.V.....I wonder if it could be a cabinet. The T.V. that we had in the 1950s was quite small but very deep and this looks very thin and quite flat.

It is a very strange shape, Carol.
I've found this web page that illustrates 1940s electronics and the one on the right with the insert that is advertising Motorola is very similar. It also says it's a 16 ins! US were always ahead of us I suppose. I remember going to my aunty's to watch the Coronation in 1953 - 12 of us watching an 8 ins tele!

Yes you could be right Gadget. I Based my opinion on the UK models of the 50s.
