Hi I'm looking for any information regarding John Roddis.
The only information I have is that he married Charlotte Ward in 1876 in Oxton, Nottinghamshire. His fathers name on marriage cert was Charles Roddis.
I dont know the year he was born, as on the marriage cert his age is registered as "Full Age".
I know Charlotte was living with her parents on the 1881 census, and married Henry Baguley on 5 June 1881 in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire.
Any information on JOHN RODDIS would be gratefully recieved
Thanks in advance

I wonder why she gave her surname as Ward when she married Henry Baguley in 1881. What name is she using in the 1881 Census and could you give the reference please.

One has to wonder if the marriage to Henry Baguley in 1881 was actually bigamous!
On 1881 census in her married name she is shown as married - this took place on 3rd April and yet just 2 months later on 5th June she marries Henry supposedly as a single woman as she married with her maiden name Ward!

Have found just one potential candidate for John Roddis.
A John Roddis birth reg'd Sept.1853 Daventry (Northamptonshire) - he was baptised 2/10/1853 as Redhouse/Rodhouse, son of Charles and Fanny.
Father Charles died as Charles Rodhouse in Sept.qtr.1860 Northampton Union aged 35.
In 1861 John is with widowed mother Fanny and this time surname is Redhouse!
In 1871 John Roddis is shown as nephew with a John and Celia Spence.
His parents married in Dec.qtr.1845 Daventry as Charles Roddis and Fanny Spence.
Both John and his father Charles were Ag. Labourers.
As with 'your' John Roddis can find no trace in census after 1871 nor any likely looking death (using all surname variations) so are this John and 'your' John the same person? Did he desert Charlotte and take off for pastures new (perhaps abroad)?
