Title: Pennsylvania 'inquest pending' 1939
Post by: maclennan25 on Tuesday 03 April 18 11:40 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if it's possible to find out more information when the death certificate says 'inquest pending'? That information was stamped across the death certificate in the box for cause of death. It's the death of an 8 year old child in 1939 in Philadelphia.

Thanks.

Perhaps there could be a notice in a newspaper but you would need to give the name and as many details as you have.

Died 1 st December 1939 - Burial 6 th December 1939 - In the United States, the date format begins with the month and ends with the year (MM/DD/YYYY), and this arrangement is relatively unique. In most of the rest of the world, the day is written first and the year last (DD/MM/YYYY), although in some places like China, Korea and Iran, this order is flipped (YYYY/MM/DD).

We are looking for an article in the Philadelphia Enquirer Saturday 2 December 1939 - looks like Alice was struck by an autonobile as she darted across Lancaster Avenue/42 Street
Sister must have been Marion who escaped uninjured.
