I came across this tonight when poking around in Te Ara! I thought that Spades might like to add it to the NZ Resource boards. It looks pretty comprehensive!! (But I still couldn't find my Early Settler ??? -) oh well, ho hum, talk about a dog without a bone?? ;D ;D 👎👎
I hope people might find it helpful with their Early Scottish NZ families!

??? That's odd Minnihha, I just tried my electric Scotland link again, and it was fine! Came up no problem.
When I clicked on your link, it came up with a Te Ara biography with the name of Ayson, but no sign of any warning at all
I'm just as puzzled as you are 😀 Maybe the warning was aimed at your computer details. I really don't know. Crazy stuff.

Hopefully some computer whizz can put us/me in the picture......

Yes, same problem as Minnie, the link works fine, but when you click on something to look at, that is when the message comes up.
JB, have you tried clicking on one of the searches, to see what you get?

Ok, just had another play around, if you click on the blue box at the top, it opens fine, on any of those links in white, but it is when you click on Biographies of Scots in NZ, is when the message appears.

Hi KHP,
Yes got that, but how do I get to "Biographies of Scots in New Zealand" as this is not listed in the blue box at the top. Or is it just me having a senior moment, again.......... ::)
Minniehaha.

The men in white coats don't need to come for you :D Click on JB's link and it should be staring at you, with the first name "Addison, Agnes" and you will see a kiwi.

I wonder if it has something to do with the browser we use, I get this message.

Pretty weird isn't it, OK for some, but not others! I'm usually searching from my iPad!!

Hi everyone,
Given the apparent risks of insecure information I don't think it would be appropriate to add this site to the Resources pages.
Spades
-
Fair enough Spades, you're right of course, and I bow to your wisdom!! :D :D
Might be best to bin the post altogether, I'd hate someone's "puter" to be compromised because of it
Thank you 👍

Hi Jeanne,
No, that's ok, the topic is helpful because it warms everyone that there's a potential access/security issue.
Thanks for posting it. :) I certainly wasn't aware of the website until now.
Spades

All good. Thanks Spades! 👍

This is an old resource.
If you actually type electricscotland.com in to google it is the first result and works fine from there.

Hello all.
As RootsChat has a TECHNICAL HELP board why not use it? [A query linked to this thread]
That's what it's there for, and those with the knowledge can resopnd.
They are in the industry and know the meaning of the prompts put out by the verious watch dogs within the systems we use.
Often it is because some of the linked resource material quoted, were prepared on systems that do not carry the onboard protection precautions of newer prepared papers.
Also the level of security you have your computer set at, could affect the threashold for a warning triger. But I'm no expert.
Alan.
