Post by: Sinann on Thursday 05 April 18 09:36 BST (UK)
I saw this story on the news last night.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch the documentary tonight but I just couldn't resist looking up the deaths of the people involved.
Victims
Margaret Joyce 80 widow
John Joyce 50 married
Bridget Joyce 45 married
Michael Joyce 17
Margaret Joyce 14
It might be interesting to find out more about them.

The story was featured on BBC Radio 4 "World at One". The man interviewed quoted late historian Robert Kee, who called it one of the most blatant miscarriages of justice in Ireland. I have Robert Kee's 3 volume history of Ireland; I must look it up.

I was trying to find baptisms or birth certs for the two children but I'm going around in circles and not getting anywhere.

There was another son Patrick who survived age between 9 and 11 but being so young and not saying his prayers they would'nt allow him give evidence.

I'm guessing the MP of the note was Timothy Michael Healy MP

That was difficult to watch, so many families put through a terrible ordeal that never really ended for them.
At least it appears Patsy went on to have a family as some descendants of John Joyce and Bridget took part in the film.
