Title: Overseas Daily Sketch newspaper
Post by: Brewins girl on Thursday 05 April 18 19:37 BST (UK)
Has anyone got any information about the 'Overseas Daily Sketch' from the 1940's please? It is referred to in my soldier Uncle's letter to my aunt, in which he thanked her for sending it. I have found a reference to 'The Daily Sketch' but not to an Overseas version. The British Newspaper Archive only have The Sketch, which is a different thing altogether (more like a magazine than a newspaper)

The British Library has copies of the Daily Sketch - presumably they'll eventually be digitised, but teh BL website will tell you how to access copies. www.bl.uk
Brief history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Sketch
My guess is that the "overseas" bit was a lightweight edition, printed on airmail paper. There used to be editions like that of several newspapers, but no doubt the internet has brought an end to them.
