Title: What happened to Selina Tandy?
Post by: Lisajb on Saturday 07 April 18 20:26 BST (UK)
Can anyone help me find out what happened to Selina Tandy?

She was born circa 1829, appears in the 1841 Census with Samuel and Ann Tandy (nee Summerfield), in Hawkesbury Upton. She may have had a child around 1845, certainly a Mary Ann Tandy appears in the Hawkesbury parish register in July 1847 with Selina as mother, no fathers name given.

And after that, I can find no definite trace. She is not the Selina Tandy who died and is buried in Hawkesbury in 1848, as that one is only a couple of months old when she died. Trees found on Ancestry give her as b1829, died 1848.

If anyone can help, I’d be most grateful.

Mary Jane is the daughter of Elizabeth Tandy, on the same page of the register as Mary Ann.

There’s a Mary Ann registered in Chipping Sodbury S quarter 1845, again, no MMN

Could she be the Selina who married George Baker in Biddestone in June 1849?
The surname is transcribed as Landry or Jandy or Tandey depending on where you see the record.

In 1871 as Selina Baker she is said to be born Hawkesbury.

I’ve seen other Tandys transcribed as Sandy - more to add to the list.

Looks good, thanks everyone.

In 1851 Mary is with Samuel and Ann and described as daughter.

In 1861 she is still with them but this time she’s a granddaughter.
