Title: florence samuel mystery
Post by: ryan37 on Sunday 08 April 18 19:58 BST (UK)
have a relative Florence Samuel that I believe is buried in the woodland cemetery Hamilton I saw the headstone and the dob of 1899 and death 1976 looks spot on

but I know connections from florences daughter lauras husbands side and they seem to believe she died in 50s

on my previous post it suggests she was a widow going by the voters list in 1970s sometimes I wonder why she is listed as widow as her husband seemed to marry another woman and we can trace him on previous post

but is there a way to find an obituary notice for this Florence to confirm more about her and to see if this is our Florence that's buried in woodland cemetery Hamilton Ontario 1899-1976

thanks in advance for any help given

ryan

Background info and research that has already been carried out on Samuel Family

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=791324.0

reply 6 on that thread refers to Florence Samuel 1900 - 1976

Billion Graves shows - Florence Samuel - 1899 - 1976 - Woodland Cemetery.

Only info I have on her death is a presumed head stone

The above was for "Information Purposes" - otherwise research already done, tends to get duplicated.

There is an RAOGK volunteer in Hamilton - "Types of Look ups: Online Sources, Cemetery Photos, State / Local Library" - this might be worth an e-mail if nothing materilizes on here.

https://www.raogk.org/lookups/region/ontario/

Or you could write (snail mail) to Hamilton Public Library -  :-\

She could have remarried and that is why there is no trace at the moment.

You can check Montreal Directories here

http://bibnum2.banq.qc.ca/bna/lovell/index.html

Choose Montreal...then Serie Principale.  After that, you can access the directories.  Choose the year you want, then choose the alphabetical directory.

Can anyone help me understand what Alex’s says

Also confused on what children is Alex’s and which is Frances , as I’m not sure if he had more than the son John to Frances

Also it doesn’t mention his previous children in first marriage

Another question where would I source obituaries for Hamilton Ontario as I would like to try and get Florence samuel info as we have info on his second wife’s death wondered if an obituary for Florence 1899 - 1976 would give clues

Ref reply 22 - RootsChat has a no living person policy so we cannot name the surviving son, probably best if you remove his name.

Hi there.

I wonder.....

With Garth's death being so recent, I wonder if the cemetery might be able to pass on a message to the son? Might be worth contacting them?
