Some pompous oaf got his lines crossed perhaps.
When did it become the law that you could not be detained in that way, or can that still be done? I mean is there a law to prevent that happening?
What a farce and to say the families had to feed them whilst they were under arrest!

Also a month later in 1914 this lady was reported to the Procurator Fiscal in Shetland for dressing in male attire & passing herself off as a mysterious stranger! ;D
Was she at the "wind-up!" following the Post Office, spy-fever, fiasco?
