Title: Burials for Edge Lane West Derby
Post by: Tshed on Tuesday 10 April 18 13:30 BST (UK)
Hi
I've been trying to find a burial for my 2xGreats James and Sarah Ann Clegg.  They lived at 11 Edge Lane West Derby.
James died 21st January 1897 at the address, and Mary Ann died on 21st April 1905 at a no1 same road, but still lived at no11. (not to be confused with a Mary Ann Clegg who died the same day in Bolton)
I am obviously hoping as ever for a stone as my family history is stubbornly devoid of them.  I have looked at available records of St Mary's locally, but only those on Family Search, and also there is nothing on OPC.  I was wondering if anyone could point me at any other possible places to search for them.
Thank you
Neil

You could always try Anfield Cemetery although with most of the Rootsweb sites being down I'm not sure if there is anything on line at the moment.

There is a very large cemetery in West Derby. The lady in the office was very helpful in finding out for me exactly where our relatives were buried. It is so large we had walked round a couple of times and not found them. Worth a try.

I agree with you about the people at West Derby Cemetery!  I got a lot of help when I visited there looking for my great grandmother's grave. I had found her burial record at the Sheffield library.

After a good 1-1/2 or so hours of wandering around with no luck, I went to the Office.  The man in there took me straight to her grave, which was in the Anglican section.  Unfortunately, there was no headstone, and the grave was very sunken away.  I did get a bonus though, as her daughter, her daughter's husband, and their son were all in the same grave.

So keep at it, even if you can visit, or write to them or email them.  I tried to find an email address , but no luck with that, but you might be able to find an address from a Liverpool council website!

Hope you are able to find the grave you're looking for - nothing seems to be on Findagrave or Billion Graves websites!
