Title: Look up Mary Whitehead Gilson b. Tullamore 1846
Post by: brendan thomas on Tuesday 10 April 18 19:55 BST (UK)
On another site (Scottish Islands)I found info given about above that she married Michael Convoy of Offaly in Liverpool 29 12  1868, she was b 1846, Tullamore (RC Im fairly sure) daughter pf James Whitehead Gilson.
Looking for
a)both parents name on baptismal cert - mother possibly Frances aka Fanny Ryan.
If so her father is same James Gilson who appears in 1901 and 1911 census alternating between Gilson and Whitehead.
b) Michael Convoy any info; b also 1846, Offaly.
Thanks

Thanks Hallmark.
Opened that site and tried 1842 as a trial but unreadable, for me anyway. Are the microfilms in NLI easier to read, do you know - maybe I just picked a bad page!

If she was born 1846, why look at 1842?

10 Jan 1847
Parents James Whitehead, Frances Ryan

One of the witnesses looks like Amelia Quinn.

Very hard to read.

Other children (according to rootsireland) George, James and Ann. Dates not legible on parish records to confirm rootsireland transcripts.

Dathai thanks. How do you do that? Its fairly illegible as reproduced. Might have a look at original in Rathmines as Im not far from there.
Ties in with James being from Dublin, Pimlico. as far as I know Ryans moved to Tullamore form Graiguenamangh so unusual that marriage wasn't in bride's home town. I think Ryans were RC but James family were 'mixed' for want of a better description. He was born in Dublin and baptised Whitehead and CoI. His mother seems to be RC and alternatesiblings were baptised in different persuasions (in St Catherines and in St Pauls, Arran Quay). Some of this stuff is surmise as its a work in progress (for too long, perhaps)
