Hi,
Im researching Edward George who was born on St Helena in 1815 to John and Isabella. I think John was a British soldier. Their eldest child was born in 1810 on St Helena. Where would i find further info about Johns army career please and as he was there 5 years before Napoleon arrived does this make it easier to narrow down what regiment he was part of? Thank you.

When & where were John & Isabella married?
I have located baptisms for the following children born in St Helena to John & Isabella:
James George born 1810
William George born 1812
Edward George born 1815
Do you have these?
How many children did John & Isabella have in total & when & where were they born?
The answers to my questions may help to find records pertinent to John, including military.

some St Helena records should be on familysearch, but I did not have any luck looking for Edward George on there EDIT: This information is actually about St Helena Bay a colony on the South African coast so not what you are looking for.
Findmypast has "British Armed Forces And Overseas Births And Baptisms", not sure when they start and although St Helena is mentioned on there they do not appear to have records for around 1815 that would be of use to you
And in case you have not got it there is an official St Helena Government website complete with a contact us page (although if getting in touch try and be very specific and do not expect them to do too much as they have very limited resources)

All three births are recorded in the British India Office Ecclesiastical Returns Births and Baptisms (on FindMyPast) which indicates the father was serving with the East India Company rather than with the British Army. Your search for him should concentrate on the EIC info provided by davidft. The returns have only names, no further detail.

Thank you for that. On Hugh George's baptism transcription 1817 (one of John's children) it says John was of the St Helena Regiment. Was that to do with the EIC then and not the British Army? Thanks

The pre-1836 St Helena Regiment was HEIC.
