I have just looked here and looked at Browse this collection to the right of the page
https://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1795

& select Lambeth, they are only showing 1890 then after WW1

Lambeth North doesn't start until 1891

Hope this helps answer your query  :)

Thank you Rosie
I am looking for 1870 or a year either side

I have a marriage and banns in a name I can't find listed anywhere else 1869, in 1871 on the census they are showing a different surname which has followed through, only connected it through mother's maiden name, I have checked out the 1871 address online but the marriage address I need for 1869 ish to see if he was living there as a single man and what name he was using

Many thanks Rosie, I guess it is a trip to London or wherever the ER's are lodged now

Only available from 1890 at LMA which fits in with your Ancestry experience.

Maybe at the British Library or Lambeth borough archives?

OK as far I can see the only one close to the period you're looking at is one for 1863 at the British Library

Because of a mix up between names I need to check my man prior to 1871, on his marriage 1869 he is shown as one surname and the following year he has another surname, so I have never been able to find a  baptism or registration, I was only able to find the marriage by tracing his wife's maiden name, my thinking was to find him the year before marriage possibly at the address on his marriage cert,  bride and groom gave the same address

I have researched his birth for 20 years with no joy so far

Thank you

Lambeth Archives doesn't have anything that early but there might be other things in their holdings they could point you towards

Thank you Dawn, that will be my next consideration

This is my problem
I have tried to copy over banns and marriage lines without success so here goes with info I have

St Mary's Lambeth
Banns
1869 Henry Alexander BRAIED to Eliza LINTON,

Marriage
St Marys Lambeth
May 1869
Henry Alexander BRAIED father Edward Dec'd, occ an artist,  both of  Westminster  Road
to
Eliza Linton,
His signature looks like BRAND

I only found this eventually by searching Eliza Linton

There is no artist listed by the father name

1871 he is listed as
Henry A BRAGG aged 25 born Lambeth
address Westminster Bridge Road
Fist child now in the  name of  Bragg
The name Bragg continues on, I have never been able to find a birth or baptism or census prior to 1871, for this man, he is a complete mystery

So  this is why I am interested in the ER's to look at these addresses  circa 1870  to see if there is a lead to his parents

I have searched for his birth and baptism  for over 20 years, and so it goes on

PS. Started by emailing Lambeth Dawn

The reply from Lambeth
We do hold voter lists for 1868,1869, and 1870 for the Parish of St Mary Lambeth, which included Westminster Bridge Road/Westminster Road as was. The voter registers are under reference P2/VL, and you can select the exact registers you would like to see from the catalogue when you arrive.

So it looks as if I will have to pay a visit at sometime

A very kind Rootschatter offered to visit Lambeth archives for me, she kindly searched various records and anything she could find either side of the 1871 census, she couldn't find anything at all on this family, as I said they are a complete mystery prior to 1869

I have by chance found an Alexander Bragg who is listed 1861as nephew to Henry Wollen and Martha Wollen nee Phillippo/Phillips,  have searched the family but still no connection to a Bragg family

Many thanks for the help received, I think I am going to have to put this to one side for awhile and come back to it at a later date
