I have a Coalport mug which has a gold leaf inscription 'J P Annable Darley'.
I don't know how it came to be in the family. I have done extensive FH research and there are no names even remotely similar.
The curator at the Coalport Museum says the mug dates circa 1845.
There is a (now deserted, occupied until the 1960s) village of Darley a few miles from Coalport - this could be a red herring.
Is 'Annble Darley' a Justice of the Peace? Is 'J P Annable' from a place called Darley? A christening mug perhaps, or related to a spewcial date in his/her history.
I cannot find a JP Annable in BMD, or in census indexes.
Can anyone throw any light on this person - help appreciated.

Walter Evans and Co, Derby were lace and cotton manufacturers.

That could well be our man, Maddy - his wife was a Perthania. I wonder if it could be J & P Annable on the mug?

The 1851 has him born Derby. Could this be his baptism:

Thanks for that - it is certainly a possibility.
There is no evidence of '&' on the mug just 'J P Annable'
On the sides of the mug are 2 painted images -
a mother and child on one side
and a man making a chair on the other
