Title: George Edward Eastwood / Brighton / 1911
Post by: AngelaC on Wednesday 18 April 18 05:45 BST (UK)
I'm helping a friend with her family tree and have hit a snag with George Edward Eastwood.

On ancestry.co.uk I found a summary of the 1911 census for Brighton, indicating that he lived at 2 North Street, but I cannot find the actual 1911 census to find out who the other people living at this address were and what their relationship to George was. I suspect he may have been lodging at the address as his family was living in Dover at the time.

Could somebody with access to the census please check this out for me?

Many thanks.

Is he the soldier/drummer with the Royal Fusiliers ref baptism of Violet Lucy Eastwood in Hounslow.
Other children born Dover.

If so he could have been counted with all he other soldiers instead of at home, although I've yet to find a list in 1911.

Or check the history of the Royal Fusiliers maybe they were deployed somewhere in 1911

The 1911 census transcriptions at familysearch.org are free to search and view. They don't include the fertility information though.

I think the site is currently off-line for maintenance.

When it is back up and running, register for a user name and password if you haven't got one already.

Well, he does appear to be in the 1911 census, but not in England!
We can't do look ups for that, and I haven't found him on the free index on FamilySearch

I thought the 1911 was only England? We can't do look ups but I believe you can say where it can be found so that the poster can look it up for themselves.

There's the military in 1911, they were enumerated overseas for the first time.
George seems to have been discharged from the army in 1909, so could try Royal Navy.
