Hi

The John Ballinger that appeared before the Gloucester Sessions in 1845 was 32 years old, so not your man.

There is a baptism record for a John Ballinger on 28 February 1825 at Goodrich, Herefordshire.  Parents are Edward and Diana.

Trying to find him in census records but not having any success at the moment.

I have found other children baptised with Edward and Diana as parents:-

Prudence 1821, Charlotte 1823, Harriotte 1826, George 1828 and Samuel 1833

All baptised in Goodrich.

Not that this helps but I have found the parents marriage:-

Edward Ballingham to Diana Davis on 20 May 1816 at Goodrich, Herefordshire

Do you have any information at all about the Ballinger family?  John's occupation?  Is John related to you?

Not sure if this is relevant but there is a John Balinger in the 1841 census living at Hill, Lower Sapey, Bromyard, Worcestershire

Piece number   1194
Book number   1
Folio number   6
Page number   10

His birth county is given as Worcestershire so may not be your man.  The reason I was attracted to this record was that the couple he is living with are called DAVIS.  This was Diana's maiden name so I wondered if they were any relation.  Davis is a common surname though.

Hi

Yes john is a relative

But his father Edward married twice

Ann hook at food rich ( she died young)

Second marriage

Diana Davis food rich
( she died about 1837 ??)

Edward was transported to Australia for stealing a sheep ( he died on board aged 59 before arrival

His son Samuel aged 7 in Ross union workhouse 1841

Cannot find his other children anywhere

Told a story john may have gone to Australia ???

And also may have been transported for theft ??

Tried at gloucester assizes about 1840-1844 ??

This looks like Diana's death

Deaths Dec 1837
Ballinger    Dianna        Ross    26   145

For some reason this is not on the GRO website.  Either missed off or mistranscribed in some way.

She was buried at Goodrich on 1st November 1837 age 45.

Have you tried searching any Australia records to see if John shows up at all?

Family stories are not always accurate.  John may have gone abroad but not necessarily to Australia.
