There's a birth in Dec 1852 on Free BMD for the above named but I can't find it on the GRO index to check mothers maiden name - can anyone find it please?
-
Page number for Thomas James is 246.
Using surname of Hinchliffe and Huddersfield in December quarter1852 there is a James Edwin - page 246 - mmn Battye
-
Thanks for looking, I was hoping for a MMN of Wilson :-\
-
Battye looks right as the 1861 census shows Thomas James, 8, has a 1 yr old younger brother Fred Hinchliffe - birth reg Sep qtr 1859 Huddersfield with mmn Battye.
Father is Edwin, a widower by 1861 (wife was Hannah per 1851).
Edwin Hinchliffe married Hannah Battye, Sep qtr 1849 Huddersfield.
-
Right thank you that rules him out then.
-
Could this be what you are after :-\
HINCHLIFFE, TOM mmn WILSON

Thanks Rosie that looks right :D
Bit complicated as his father had died by 1861 and mother remarried in 1860 but I can't see him with his new family in 1861 **
Mum is Mary Bradbury b 1824 Huddersfield - step father John Bradbury and Tom is down as Bradbury in 1871.
In 1871 there are 2 Sarah A Bradbury daughters both born Huddersfield one 1846 one 1854.
Not sure if the 1854 one is another Hinchliffe/Wilson daughter or a Bradbury.
Why would there be 2 daughters called Sarah A Bradbury from the same parents.
** He could be the 8 year old down as "Sam"

I think you mean 1861
John Bradbury/Mary Hinchliffe marriage states both married previously. John's father Benjamin a slubber, Mary's William Wilson a delver.
John Bradbury, born, 23 Apr 1816, Baptised, 2 Jun 1816
Father: Ben Bradbury, Mother: Betty Bradbury
Todmorden, Yorkshire, England, Denomination: Wesleyan
Have you found John's previous marriage, it may help sort out who the Sarah Ann's are.

Mark Hinchliffe 26, Shepley
Mary Hinchliffe 25, Huddersfield
James Hinchliffe 6, Hudddersfiel

Do you know what happened to James and Ann, they aren't with Mary in 1861.
All births with MMN Wilson, Rosie gave you Tom.
